Essential Learning Points from this Issue

Growth Mindset is the opposite of a Fixed Mindset.

Here is how you can transition from a Fixed Mindset to a Growth Mindset:

1. Believe in your ability to figure things out.

If you have a great dream you will only begin the journey if you believe you can figure things out along the way.

2. Question your negative assumptions.

Don’t let you current skills dictate your direction. Question whether your negative assumptions correct.

3. Create your own curriculum for skill development.

Get your own collection of books and other learning resources. You must architect your own curriculum to support your own individual success. With all the online learning resources available today, what is there to stop you from creating a self-learning plan to support your dreams?

4. Honor the struggle.

Discouragement and failure are part of the process. Don’t hate the process. It will strengthen you and forge a stronger character. With a growth mindset you won’t run and hide from new challenges and setbacks. What to do when you have a setback? Try again.

“People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.”Zig Ziglar

In the Success Journal I plan to provide motivation as well as detailed strategies that are working for me and others in the Digital Age.

Have you heard about any of these growth mindset concepts before? If you read the book I wrote you certainly have. Here is a short excerpt from the book:

The main thing here and now is to develop confidence in your ability to work things out as you go. Taking control of your own learning to support concrete goals is empowering and motivating. You will dive deeper into each knowledge area when it makes sense to do so for the journey you are on.

“As knowledge is acquired it must be organized and put into use, for a definite purpose, through practical plans. Knowledge has no value except that which can be gained from its application toward some worthy end.”Napoleon Hill

Carol Dweck is a Professor of Psychology at Stanford University. Watch her teaching the growth mindset in the following video:

Where To Next?

The main action item from this issue is to begin developing your own growth mindset learning curriculum for skill development. This could take on many forms depending on your goals.

If you are interested in online business, I highly recommend Wealthy Affiliate. They have a good curriculum for skill development in the online business space (with a strong focus on affiliate marketing). Wealthy Affiliate is an impressive online community that I belong to myself. They have a free Starter Member option (no credit card required).
